About the Event
Children are curious about everything - birds, butterflies and bodies. Growing up, we have been conditioned to think of sex and sexuality as dirty, shameful, secretive and applicable only in certain contexts. And we are passing these flawed beliefs to the next generation!
It’s time we teach children about body safety education.
It’s time to answer their so called ‘awkward’ questions.
It’s time to help them set healthy body boundaries and teach consent.
It’s high time we learn to distinguish between developmentally normal and concerning behaviour.
In India, child sexual abuse is rampant. 1 in 2 children are sexually abused before their 18th birthday, where boys and girls are equally vulnerable. These staggering facts often push adults into denial. But wishing it away, won’t make the abuse stop. In fact denial is the molestors best friend. Knowledge is the one thing that can drastically reduce the risk of your child being a victim. Start by educating yourself on the issue today!
Workshop content:
- Demystifying sexuality, including child sexual abuse and healthy sexual development in children.
